Be Sun Smart

Shielding Your Skin from Sun Damage:

  • Slip: Slip on a shirt. Opt for long-sleeved shirts to provide a protective barrier against the sun’s harmful UV rays.
  • Slop: Slop on sunscreen. Coat all exposed skin with a sufficient amount of broad-spectrum sunscreen featuring a high SPF.
  • Slap: Slap on a hat. Choose a wide-brimmed hat to create shade for your face, neck, and ears, shielding them from direct sunlight.
  • Seek: Seek shade strategically. Make a conscious effort to find shaded areas during peak sun hours, reducing direct sun exposure.
  • Slide: Slide on sunglasses. Safeguard your eyes from harmful UV rays by wearing sunglasses that provide ample coverage.

In addition to being sun smart try to hydrate adequately and be mindful of reflective surfaces. Regularly check your skin for any changes, and, if possible, choose sun-protective clothing with UPF ratings. Avoid tanning beds altogether and use a lip balm with SPF to safeguard your lips. This straightforward routine takes only minutes but goes a long way in preserving your skin’s health and preventing sun damage.
